Mumbai: Television actor Aditi Sharma, known for starring in hit shows like Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan, Kaleerein, and Rabb Se Hai Dua, has filed a formal police complaint alleging domestic violence, physical and mental harassment, and cruelty against her husband, actor-writer Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, and her in-laws.
Based on her complaint, Mumbai’s Goregaon Police Station registered a First Information Report (FIR) on July 31 under key sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Key Allegations Detailed in the FIR
According to official police reports and the statement provided by Sharma, the abuse reportedly began just days after their marriage:
Mental & Physical Abuse: Sharma alleged that her husband frequently quarreled over minor domestic matters, criticized her attire, and subjected her to constant verbal insults.
Financial Strain & Character Assassination: The actor claimed that Kaushik did not contribute to household expenses and instead demanded money from her. She further alleged that he accused her of extra-marital affairs, routinely monitored her phone, restricted her contact with her parents, and slept in a separate room.
Withholding of Stridhan: The FIR names her mother-in-law, Urmila Kaushik (65), and sister-in-law, Kirti Kaushik (29), accusing them of illegally retaining her bridal jewelry—including gold chains, diamond rings, a mangalsutra, and bangles—despite repeated demands for their return.
