Actor and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has reignited headlines with her fiery response to several celebrities and public figures who have criticized her in recent months. In a recent interaction with the media, the outspoken star and politician addressed statements made by figures including Taapsee Pannu, Sonu Sood, Rakhi Sawant, Ashutosh Rana, and yoga guru Baba Ramdev, telling her detractors that they haven’t achieved “even 1%” of her success.
Here is a detailed breakdown of what triggered the controversy, the exact statements made by Kangana, and the ongoing background feud.
Kangana’s Scathing Statement: “First Become Like Me”
Speaking to the paparazzi and news agencies on Monday, Kangana singled out specific names while asserting that she will no longer tolerate unwarranted attacks. She accused these public figures of using her name to gain media attention.
Listing her grievances, Kangana stated:
“Enough is enough. Every other day, I see people like Ashutosh Rana, who says I bark like a dog, or the likes of Sonu Sood, who says I should learn how to speak. Then there are people like Rakhi Sawant, who make all sorts of remarks about my character, and Taapsee Pannu, who insults my parents, my upbringing, and my background.”
Taking a firm stance against her critics, she issued a direct message:
“Agar mere saman 1% bhi life mein success nahi kama paaye ho toh main aap ka koi bhi gyaan nahi sunungi (if you haven’t achieved even 1% of the success I have in life, I am not going to listen to you). These are all failed, completely irrelevant people who constantly hurl abuse at me just to get media attention”.
Kangana went on to refer to her detractors as “bhookhe nange log” (destitute people) who are trying to “latch on” to her fame. She explicitly noted that she would only take advice from those who are more successful and respected than she is.

What Triggered the Recent Backlash?
The recent exchanges predominantly stem from two separate ongoing controversies:
1. The “Generation Gutter” Comment
Earlier in July, Kangana grabbed headlines for labeling certain young protestors at Jantar Mantar as “Generation Gutter,” accusing them of possessing westernized mindsets and using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Sonu Sood’s Reaction: Actor Sonu Sood called her comments “very shameful” and “inappropriate,” suggesting she should think before she speaks.
- Ashutosh Rana’s Reaction: When asked about Kangana’s remarks, Ashutosh Rana gave a cryptic response, stating, “I believe that a lion roars, an elephant trumpets, and a dog barks. Any living being is identified by its sound”.
- Rakhi Sawant’s Reaction: Rakhi slammed Kangana for her comments on Gen Z women, releasing a video where she called her a “gutter mouth”.
2. The Taapsee Pannu Feud
Kangana’s rivalry with Taapsee Pannu dates back to 2019, when Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel infamously called Taapsee a “sasti copy” (cheap copy). The feud was recently revived when Taapsee stated in an interview that her differences with Kangana reflect their different upbringings. Infuriated by the comment, Kangana accused Taapsee of ridiculing her parents and background.

Calling Out Baba Ramdev
Apart from Bollywood peers, Kangana also directed her ire toward yoga guru Baba Ramdev. Ramdev had previously criticized her “gutter generation” remark, questioning her past and stating she had no right to insult the country’s youth.
In her latest press interaction, Kangana accused Ramdev of crossing all boundaries of decency. “The kind of comments he has made about a woman have shamed society,” Kangana remarked. She criticized him for wearing saffron clothes associated with Sanatan Dharma while making derogatory statements, urging him to reflect on his perspective regarding women.
