In a shocking incident near Lonavla, 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal—a real estate director from Pimpri Chinchwad—was allegedly murdered just a month before his wedding. While posing for a photo at Lohagad Fort, Agarwal was pushed into a 300-foot-deep gorge by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her lover.
Initially reported as a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort, the case has now been officially upgraded to murder. Key to unravelling the truth were the persistent doubts raised by Ketan’s family, which prompted a deeper police investigation.
According to a Times of India report, the Agrawal family immediately doubted the accident theory, pointing out that Ketan was an experienced trekker who knew the local terrain well. They told police that the fall seemed entirely inconsistent with a simple slip.
Prompted by their concerns, investigators opened a detailed inquiry and registered a formal complaint. Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill stated that a mix of confidential leads, witness accounts, and technical data strongly indicated foul play. Crucially, investigators discovered that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, had been secretly in contact with a friend named Chetan Chaudhary for nearly a year.
Gill said, “During the course of investigation, it came to light that the two conspired to eliminate Agrawal. At Lohagad Fort, he was allegedly pushed, causing him to fall to his death.”
The Lonavala Rural Police soon took Goyal and Chaudhary into custody, where the duo reportedly broke down during interrogation and admitted to their roles in the crime. With a murder case now officially filed against them, investigators are focusing on mapping out a precise timeline and uncovering the definitive motive behind the fatal plot.
Police officials noted that the case highlights a critical lesson: family intervention is paramount when circumstances surrounding a death seem suspicious. Vocalizing these doubts often forces a much more rigorous, comprehensive investigation.
Before his life was cut short, Ketan had returned from his postgraduate studies overseas to join his father’s prominent real estate business as a director. Speaking to TOI, a police officer underscored the heartbreak surrounding the case, mentioning that the family had already finalized bookings for a palace wedding in Jaipur.
What Happened to Ketan Agrawal?
On Thursday, June 18, Ketan Agarwal went trekking at Lohagad Fort with his fiancée, Siya Goyal, to celebrate her birthday. He was deeply invested in building a future with her, with the couple scheduled to tie the knot this coming November.
Initially, Goyal claimed that Ketan had tragically slipped and plunged into the valley while posing for a photograph. However, investigators soon uncovered glaring discrepancies after analyzing mobile data, analyzing call histories, and interviewing witnesses on-site. The probe ultimately revealed that Goyal and her lover, Chetan Chaudhry, had allegedly masterminded the plot and pushed Ketan into the deep gorge.
The revelation is a staggering blow to a union that was being planned on a massive scale. The November wedding was set to take place in Udaipur, Rajasthan, with reports indicating the families had already booked a palace venue for ₹17 crore and arranged two private jets to transport their guests.

If Ketan Agarwal hadn’t been engaged to the wrong girl, he might still be alive today.
A ₹600 crore empire remains, but the man who built and inherited that future is gone.
